Design-Construction

At the beginning of Darakeh road lies a beautiful garden. The owner of this piece of land has built a road to connect Darakeh road at the top of his site, to 13 Chenar road at the bottom. This road has resulted in a concrete bridge-slab on level with Darakeh road. The client wanted to convert the negative space created (under the bridged slab) into a livable unit within the garden. As this had not been taken into consideration while the road was being built, the structure of the slab had been designed with very large piles. Also, the location of the slab only allowed for access to natural light from the west. Additionally, the height of the bridge-slab could not accommodate a 2-story unit, which required the removal of soil from the base of the bridge, undermining the structural stability of the piles.
